I guess that other question wasn't much of a challenge. How about a question about something that has been bothering me for years and is driving me crazy tonight?
As part of my standard VB 6 installation I also install the version of MSDN that came with it. Ever since I have had MSDN I have had a problem with it.
After a successful install it works great for a variable period of time. Sometimes months, but tonight I have had to re-install 4 times already.
What happens is that I try to search for something and get a popup that tells me it can't find the file it needs to look in. In the window where the filename would ordinarily be the box has the name of the library, not a path. I've tried pointing it at the D: drive where the MSDN disk is and it will only let me go down to the MSDN directory. Apparently it can't find what it needs so the same popup comes up. There are two buttons, Continue and Quit. If I press Continue I end up playing ping pong with it until I get tired. If I press Quit, every time I try to use it, it says 'No Topics Found'. That goes on until I reinstall it.
Any help with this library problem would be greatly appreciated.
In answer to the inevitable question about my hardware and software, everything from an 80286 WFW 3.11 box to The Big Black Tower, which is currently running WinXP Pro SP3 with an AMD 3+ CPU.
I'm getting kind of motivated about this stuff because I am going commercial again, after my long vacation. I've been working on an application for two days and have made about one hour's progress because of the wierd problems I am running into.
