Get Volume Information does not work on some PCs

Hello,

I have made an application which works on most systems. However there are 20-30% systems on which it does not work. The application first displays a flash screen and then checks for the volume serial no. of the Hard Disk. If it matches the serial no. in the license.lic file in the application folder, it goes to the main screen, else it displays a registration form. This registration form asks the user to enter the usual information and also automatically adds the volume serial no. in the generated registration file so that the license.lic file can be made accordingly.

Now in most systems (70-80%) the registration screen shows up if the serial no. does not match. But in the balance 20-30% PCs the flash just disappears and the registration file is not displayed. Can you please help in finding out why this may be happening? So I guess the Get Volume Information is not able to access the HD serial no. in those cases.

The application runs well on XP as well as Win 7 and in cases where it doesn't work, it is again either XP or Win 7.
